Who We Are

Rysa is a passionate and dedicated union activist with a deep sense of social solidarity. Along with her role as the VP of the utility group with MoveUP advocating and lobbying government, Rysa works to address the needs of marginalized groups. Her true legacy lies in her unwavering advocacy for sex workers. Rysa believes that sex work, like any other profession, deserved recognition and respect. Despite facing significant opposition, Rysa was relentless in her efforts to secure support for sex workers, first from MoveUP, then COPE National, and ultimately from the Canadian Labour Congress.

Andrea McKenna is a passionate union activist and elected Executive Board member with MoveUP, representing members at BC Hydro. With over a decade of experience in advocacy and workplace representation, she is committed to advancing equity, inclusion, and safety for all workers. Andrea’s background in adult education fuels her efforts to make training and development more accessible and impactful across the union. She actively contributes to multiple MoveUP committees and serves on the Joint Health & Safety Committee, where she champions member wellbeing. Andrea is dedicated to amplifying the voices of marginalized communities and believes in the power of collective action to drive lasting change.

"Ghazaleh Nozamani is a force of purpose and perseverance—a former software engineer who transformed into a Red Seal mechanical insulator, skilled tradeswoman, project manager, and bold political activist. As a survivor of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s prison system, she brings extraordinary resilience and firsthand insight to every space she enters.
She is the founder of Love Without Borders, a heart-centered nonprofit grounded in justice, equity, and community resilience—building bridges through mentorship, affordable housing, and hands-on training. A relentless advocate for refugees, workers, and marginalized voices, Ghazaleh merges technical expertise with lived experience, compassion with conviction, and blueprints with visionary action.
She is also an active member of the BCFED Racial Equity and Justice Workers Caucus Committee and serves on the Political Action Committee of the BC Building Trades, where she helps shape inclusive policy and amplify worker power across the province.
Whether she’s on a job site or a political stage, she shows up—toolbelt on, fist raised, and community first."

Graeme has been a proud member of MoveUP for over 18 years, At MoveUp he served on the Executive Board and also Secretary Treasurer before becoming President. In his role of President of MoveUP he served as an Officer of the BC Federation of Labour. He was formerly President of the Fraser Valley Labour Council before stepping aside in March 2025. He has lived in the Fraser Valley since 2000 and is proud to call Abbotsford his home. In 2024 he stood for the BC NDP in the Abbotsford West riding and remains politically involved. Many Fraser Valley residents know him from his work in the local community as a soccer referee.
